Hyde Park Chamber Member Highlight:
The Hyde Park Free Library!
Did you know our beloved library has been part of the community since 1895? It all began with a donation of 75 books from James Roosevelt (yes—FDR’s father!), and has grown over the decades thanks to passionate local families, civic groups, and generations of community support.
From its early days in the St. James Chapel “Reading Room,” to Sara Roosevelt’s vision of a true community library, to its expansion and state charter—this historic gem has always been a place for learning, connection, and belonging.
Today, the Hyde Park Library continues that mission with:
- A rich collection for all ages
- Community programs & events
- Dedicated spaces for children and teens
- The Library Annex for expanded programming
From 1895 to 2026… the Hyde Park Free Library has been so much more than books — it’s been the heart of our community.
Stop in, say hi, and support one of Hyde Park’s most cherished institutions!
